This book is simply awful. The story is stupid and violent, and any child who loves dinosaurs knows that "cavemen" (also an incredibly stupid characterization) and dinosaurs did not coexist. The idea that the dinosaurs all beat each other to death over a limited supply of underwear (complete with illustrations) is horrible. I absolutely loathed this book. I actually hid it, so I wouldn't have to read it to my son again.
Uhrm. I mean, it's cute, but I didn't really realize that it describes a dinosaur war to the death over underpants. I don't tend to think of myself as too sensitive a parent, but I was a little taken aback at the violence, so I thought I would put it out there in case there are parents who have a zero level tolerance for that sort of thing. I personally don't think it's a problem in this story, but would like to have been warned ahead of time.
The faces are mad, the characters are fighting. This is not a fun book. We only read it once, and not sure if I want to scare other children with this.
My boys adore this book! We read it all the time and my oldest “reads it to me†Too (he has it memorized). The rhymes are fun and it is cute enough that when I am forced to read it 5 times in a row it isn’t that bad. :) All in all worth getting for my little dino lovers!
Disappointed in this book. I knew it would be a funny book, but it is just silly. My 3 1/2 year old Grandson is 'into' dinosaurs, but this book is for older kids who understand humorous drawings and unfamiliar words used for the purpose of rhymimg. Sorry I ordered this one!
What a cute, fun book! I purchased this book for my 4 y.o. nephew who likes dinosaurs. I fell in love with it after reading the description. I also work as a programmer for my local library and I do Story Time for preschool kids. This book is perfect for Story Time lots of opportunities for laughs.
What more could a 3-year-old boy want than dinosaurs and underpants? My grandson chooses his own unders carefully each morning - will it be spiderman, superman, Flash - a big decision. He plays very happily with his many dinosaurs. This book combines two of his major interests into one and will long remain a favorite.
I did not realize that the dinosaurs all die in this story. My 2 year old was so sad. I had to explain to her why all the dinos had to die....
