From School Library Journal

PreSchool-K This beginning reader follows a brother and his older sister through their Tae Kwon Do class from first bow to parting wave. The spare text uses repetition and familiar action words to highlight the activities. While the rhyme keeps the text moving, it's awkward at times: We bow./We step in now. The warm colors of the illustrations are inviting, but the overly round, stylized figures create an impression that isn't as polished or as sharp as the sport. Girls will feel empowered; boys may feel slighted as their participation in the class is less showy. Overall, though, most kids will get a kick out of Tae Kwon Do! H. H. My almost-five year old has started taking Taekwondo lessons, and I got him this book so it would motivate him. My son has two Level 1 boxed sets from Disney that he reads very often, World of Reading Marvel Boxed Set: Level 1 - Purchase Includes Marvel eBook! and World of Reading Star Wars Boxed Set: Level 1 (World of Reading: Level 1).I was expecting something similar for this Taekwondo book. However, while I liked the drawings, I was a little disappointed with the text. The sentences in each page are way too short, such as "We look.", "We pick.". My son read the book once in around a minute, found it not-so-interesting, and never looked at it again. I guess he might already be too old for this book, but I cannot imagine a younger kid doing Taekwondo! I wish the writers would have aimed for a little older audience, similar to the Disney books we already own, with multiple sentences per page.

My son has been reading for a couple of months now - mostly Dick and Jane stuff and doing Taekwondo for about 6 months. The day the book arrived he read all the way through it without prompting. He liked the pictures and we spent some time talking about what was happening. He now carries this book around all over the place and even took it to school for show and tell. While this would be no replacement from the more rigorous books we're using to develop his reading skills, it's a great addition to his library and is a fun book that a beginner can read and enjoy.Note - I was a little nervous given that some of the reviewers suggested this might be more geared for girls.I disagree, but liked that it works for boys and girls and presents my son with an image that matches what he sees in his own class, girls and boys practicing equally side by side.

I bought this book for our 3 y/o daughter and I hope she will enjoy Tae Kwon Do in the very near future. The subject and the reading level were perfect, the price made our purchase a "no-brainer", and the book makes a great addition to our daughter's bedtime storytime. The book's material is easy to understand and the illustrations are fun and professionally presented. The seller satisfied all my concerns promptly, and I am very satisfied. Thanks, Amazon!

I bought this for my four year old as she started Tae Kwon Do. We LOVE this book! It uses simple words to tell what all happens in a class. I'm sure she will enjoy reading this on her own soon, but for now this is a together read. We love the pictures and the thoughtfulness that went into them. We just introduced TKD to three of her friends so I bought this to go with the six year old's birthday present. I'm certain he will love that he can read it alone and then be able to remember his eight week trial class period well.

I purchased four of these. One for my son and three for his fellow Taekwondo Kindergarten students. Easy read and they all loved it.

Cute, my granddaughter is taking Taekwondo classes and she took this book to school and read it for her "show and tell"

My older daughter just started Tae Kwon Do so we bought this book for her to read to our two year old who hasn't seen what Tae Kwon Do is yet. This is a fun book showing some simple examples of what may occur at a Tae Kwon Do class. My kids are happy and like to mimic the actions in the book.

Thought it would be for a 5-6 yr old. Book seemed like it would be for a 3-4 yr old.
