I purchased the Kindle edition and while you can skip to the beginnings of individual books, you cannot go to a specific chapter. The table of contents also lists three volumes of "Juvenilia" which seem to be her writings while she was young that were never published, but there are no letters or poems, which was part of the reason I bought this specific book. It would also be nice if there was a way to skip through the different works in the Juvenilia sections, you really have no idea what you are reading. The works of Jane Austen are of course, amazing, but I'm disappointed in the formatting and content of the e-book.

There are many Jane Austen collections out there, but this boxed set is truly a thing of beauty! The hardcover books within are beautifully printed, weighty, and a handsome addition to any book lover's shelf. Whether a gift for a burgeoning Austenite or simply a gift for yourself, if you love Jane Austen's works, do not hesitate to purchase this lovely set. I will note that in the photos provided one could be forgiven for making the mistake of thinking the pages are gilded - they are NOT. Instead the paper stock used in the books is a medium/heavy weight that is a lovely creamy tone and so the page edges have a darker cast that could be confused for gold gilding (but again, these books are NOT GILDED). The illustrations within the books are charming and lend that almost antiquarian feel to this set, and the aforementioned cream colored page paper means you don't feel like the page is too 'bright' for long term reading (font is a very nice size too - not teeny-weeny like some thrift editions). Still, that did not diminish their beauty for me and considering the FANTASTIC PRICE I would absolutely give this set way more than 5 stars if I could. If you are gifting this to someone else, the box alone is sturdy, beautiful printed on all sides and the flap opens with a slight magnetic hold, so, honestly, you could put a bow on this for gift giving and be done! Highly recommended for any romantic literature lover and certainly for the Jane Austen fans regardless of age!

This Montlake Romance edition of Jane Austen's novels for the Kindle is very well put together and seems much more professional than any other complete Austen e-book I have seen. The book's design is very pleasant, the typography is good (things like inverted-comma quotation marks, long dashes, and italics are correct -- the book doesn't look like something that came out of a typewriter), and unlike many Kindle publishers, it seems that Montlake actually bothers to proofread their texts. I'm still reading the first novel in the book ("Emma"), but I'm most of the way through it and I have noticed only one typo.As for Austen's novels themselves, do I really need to review them? They're great. If you've read them before, read them again. If you've only seen movie or TV adaptations, read them for real!

This is a really pretty and nice collection of Jane Austen's books. The covers, while simplistic are very lovely and definitely match the feel of the books quite well. I only have two issues with it -- one is that my copy of Sense and Sensibility came with a dented corner (though I'm not entirely certain how it would have become dented given it's in a rather sturdy box set). My other issue is that unlike what is pictured, the books do not have the color edged pages, which may seem like a minor thing, but it was never the less disappointing, because I do feel that it added to the charm of the books and matched nicely with the covers for each one and it had influenced my choice to get this particular set.

This set is beautifully bound and a pleasure to read. I have never been so excited about buying books as I was when I ordered this set. Not only is it fantastic quality, but the price was even better. The box is high quality, not a cheap cardboard affair, and the book binding is sturdy and attractive. The pages feel like rich and smooth, and the print is the perfect size. The sewn-in bookmark is also very convenient and lends an antique air to the already gorgeous books. The only thing I have the slightest dislike for are the illustrations, which are a little too basic and lack detail to match the superior quality of the rest of the set. This is a must-have for any fan of Jane Austen, and it makes a wonderful gift as well.

I love the set and don't have the problems with the colors or illustrations that others have. I think it's beautiful. But I've recently discovered typos in the books which is incredibly disappointing. This makes me distrust all the books and I hate feeling that way. In particular is the first riddle in Emma. My book has, "My first doth AFFECTION denote..." but its actually supposed to read, "My first doth AFFLICTION denote..." Disappointing.

To find all Jane Austen novels reunited, also amongst them is her short story 'Lady Susan', was quite a treat and well worth the price. All hardcover, with beautiful ornate flower drawings on them, this collection brings a happy medium between the old classics and the modern conveniences. All novels are a great size and not so heavy, making them ideal for carrying or reading at home. I especially enjoyed seeing some fine quotes around the box set and on each novel as well, beautifully replacing the often tedious summary of novels. This is ideal for anyone who wants to have a complete collection of Austen's work or simply has the money to invest in a matching set of books (odds and ends can become tedious to look at). Overall great packaging and content, couldn't be happier!

I love her writing. It's a joy to read someone with a huge vocabulary who knows how to use it. The English language can be so beautiful when a truly learned individual takes command. Her sly and witty observations creep up on the reader and he sits back and knows he's just read something very astute and so well said. I reread her works and never tire of them. The only thing I would suggest to a reader is keep a pad and pencil to jot down the characters with a brief description. Miss Austen peoples her stories with an enormous number of them. Sometimes I find myself asking, "Who WAS that?" It's no wonder she is beloved by people around the world.
