Lots of action with believable characters. The connection to Anderson Prison was a great addition to the story. In a nutshell an officer from the former Anderson Prison kills a mine owner and staffs six mines with slave labor and ruthlessly runs these mines under the noises of local law and army while occasionally people go missing. Well told.
I enjoyed this so much even though it was pretty sadistic that I am sure enjoy is not quite the right word. I liked the characters including some of the bad guys. But the plot and action were full of suspense and questions of how it could possibly be resolved
Giving it 3 stars, maybe should have been 2' Would not have made the Marshal look like such an idiot. I run with an Ex US Marshal and believe me, they are not as inept as this books make them look. Also, much of the book was just repeat after repeat of what had been said earlier. Book a waste if time. But I did finish it. Mr Black will do better I am sure in later books
It's been a while since reading a western with out a lot of profanity and having God there as well. Keep up thegood work.
This is one of the best books I have read in the last five years. I have read very many books in this time. This one has more twist and turns than I remember in another book. I hope you write very many more books. Thank you for the joy of reading it.
Quite an entertaining story.
WB. has. penned a western adventure, the second in the US Marshal series,which begins with one man and his gang murdering mine owners after having them sign them over to him. The gang salespeople from most of the races to work as slaves in the mine. Once the Marshal figured out what was happening he went to the US Calvary for assistance. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Great story....but too verbose. Too much filler. Modern vernacular such as "icebreaker" and other out of character for the time period was distracting from the story.
