He holds the CPIM certification from APICS the Association for Operations Management. Professor Heizer has co-authored 5 books and has published more than 30 articles on a variety of management topics. Operations Management: Sustainability and Supply Chain ManagementSeller is great, amazon delivery (i purchased electronic-kindle as well as print edition) is great. but the 12th edition is sneaky in the fact that many question that were from previous 11th edition have been moved to publisher's "myomlab" which needs separate purchase over and above the cost of purchase of the book. such questions are not even listed at the end of the chapter problems, instead it simply reads "qxyz to qabc are available in myomlab". publisher claims that many new questions were added. fine, but many questions that were representative of the concepts presented in the various chapters are now missing from end of the chapter problems, especially the ones that were good to practice in class with students (essentially moved myomlab, so people will be forced to buy the textbook and myomlab).its like arm twisting to having purchase myomlab, something that is absolutely unnecessary given the fact that the university already uses learning management system such as blackboard/moodle/ilearn etc. myomlab is not even like cengage or aplia, its archaic, so having students to pay for the cost of textbook and myomlab is just not justified, especially when the students i teach are mostly full time working students, and first generation college attendees.cheap tactical decision from publisher, in my opinion that reduces the value of the textbook. i would have stuck to the previous edition (11th) but they stopped selling/publishing it anymore. I teach operations management for 3 years students in college of business. the material in teh textbook is good, easy to understand with sufficient examples. the textbook provides good balance of stories,examples and quantitative content.

So far it is a great format! Easily go between desktop and tablet. Really like the highlighting and note taking ability with this 'not normal Kindle' format.Only downside so far is that apparently the book has some 'overlays' in it that did not transition to this format (pg 168). Basically only got the page, without the overlay sheets (books states there are four). This is a big gap in the example data.

There was no access card with my book. I unwrapped it and class started yesterday so I cannot return.

Working on a Logistics degree. Arrived on time. Good quality. Good price, cheapest I found it anywhere.

It explained some concepts well but some not so much. It was a good choice for my class and overall it was a good text.

Easy to rent, came in good condition.

This story is both educational and entertaining. It's a must-read for kids of all ages and a great read for adults as well. As a long time fan of Robbie Robertson, I know his remarkable way with words and this book is his story telling at its finest. In addition, the illustrations are gorgeous and enhance the story with colorful and compelling artwork. I wholeheartedly recommend the book without reservation. You will enjoy reading this book to your children and grandchildren as much as they will enjoy listening to you.

I bought Hiawatha and the Peacemaker for my 4 yr old grandson. I read the story to him and he loves the story. i'm keeping the book for him until he is old enough to take care of it. Every time he comes to see me he gets excited about the book. He wants me to get it for him and he turns the pages as he begins to tell me the story. He understands who the Peacemaker is and why he approaches Hiawatha to help him spread peace throughout the tribes. It is a delight to see how much he loves this story. I recommend this book for all ages. It is a beautiful story with awesome artfstic illustrations.

Excellent for children to learn about the true Hiawatha from Native American author Robbie Robertson. It is beautifully written and illustrated. It is an inspirational book about peace that comes through forgiveness; and equality that comes through democracy. Thank you Robbie for this wonderful book!

Even tho it was written in the form of a children's book, this piece of living history tells it exactly how it was.....and how it should be. The artwork is absolutely amazing and the story line will definitely spark a feeling of love and brotherhood for the Haudenosaunee!

This is a wonderful introduction to the story of the Peacemaker for families to enjoy. My grandchildren love it and I enjoy reading it to them.

Most beautifully authored and depicted book I have ever read. A very strong lesson in life for adults and children. The art and pictures are stunning. The CD that accompanies the book, by the fabulous author Robbie Robertson is both a spiritual and tribal, beautiful piece of music. Everyone can enjoy Hiawatha and the Peacemaker.

After hearing Robertson interviewed on NPR discussing this book, I decided to purchase. I love the story, history and illustration. Beautiful!

The book arrived excellent condition. Contains a good introduction to electron structure calculations with a large amount of interesting modern applications.

As analytical and synthesis techniques become more powerful, it is now possible to examine and fine-tune materials at the atomic scale. Likewise, continual advances in computer hardware and software have allowed more people the ability to model processes and materials at the atomic scale. Consequently, there is a growing need for good textbooks on the atomic and electronic structure of solids. Alas, most of the relevant textbooks suffer from one or more of the following drawbacks:1. There is too much math and physics for most people. In other words, there are too many equations, proofs, and derivations. This usually manifests itself in sections on quantum mechanics and ab initio modeling.2. The texts become less an educational tool and more a showcase of the latest and greatest achievements by the author(s). This negative can often be spotted by looking at the book's table of contents. If each chapter is written by a separate author, then you can be sure that the text often end up as extended reviews of that author(s)' publications.3. Not enough coverage of background information. The study of solids at the atomic level is being approached by multiple fields that usually have NO interdisciplinary overlap in education institutions. Examples include geology, electrical engineering, biochemistry, tribology, materials science, etc... Therefore, a book to serve members from all these fields should have a lot of background information in topics such as thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, crystal structure and defects, group theory, etc...4. Lack of pictorial representation. A picture is worth a thousand words; and even more so if you are trying to understand microscopic phenomena such as bonding, dislocation motion, etc... Too many textbooks have too few, well-explained pictures.This book by Kaxiras does not suffer from any of these drawbacks. I consider it the best book so far on this topic.First, it is written entirely by one author, yet I could not find a single reference to any of his publications within the book. There was absolutely no feeling that this book was trying to review someone's work, or some body of work. Instead, the book read like a well writtent textbook.Second, the topics are written for a general audience, with enough background information that undergraduate science and engineering students can understand it. Specifically, the first chapter of the book starts with the Periodic Table of Elements and explains why different elements form different types of solids. This is extremely valuable information for anyone who has never had a course in materials science, which probably means most chemists, electrical engineers, biologists, etc...3. Lots and lots of review literature is cited- WITH explanations of why it was suggested to the reader for further reading.4. I counted 1 picture per every 2 pages. That is astounding. This book examined the mean-field, Born-Oppenheimer, frozen-phonon, pseudopotential, and other approximations commonly used in atomic-scale modeling, and provided thorough, well-organized justification of each one, along with a listing of their successes and failures.In all, I recommend this book to anyone as a prerequisite reading before attempting to do research on the atomic or electronic structure of materials.

That is more than double the value of Apple, more than double that of Amazon, and six times that of ExxonMobil or all three combined!This book is about the history of Saudi Arabia and Saudi Aramco combined, because the history of neither the country nor the company can be written separately.The book does not address the reign of King Salman which began in 2015, the power of the Crown Prince, the social liberalization, Vision 2030, nor the intended Saudi Aramco initial public offering. Rather it paints a picture of the fortunes of a remarkable company from which important lessons can be learned. It chronicles the growth and operations of this parastatal, extractive enterprise and industrial behemoth.The state of Arabia in the first decades of the 20th century, was so poor and under developed that the King of Saudi Arabia’s wealth and that of the realm, was kept in gold coins, cash, and other precious metals. It all fitted into chests that Finance Minister Sulaiman reportedly stored in his family home. These funds were needed to be distributed among the king’s subjects in politically expedient ways so as to ensure the continued loyalty from nomadic and settled tribesmen.What is today Saudi Aramco, started as a Saudi Arabian concession to drill for oil, granted to an American company under the name ‘Arabian American Company’ – Aramco.It began as a huge gamble. Previous geological surveys for signs of petroleum deposits in the Arabian Peninsula were disappointing but not conclusively negative. Oil had already been discovered in Iran in the early 1900s by the later named BP, and later in small quantities in Bahrain.The Saudi king at the time was so sceptical that oil would be found, that he asked the engineers and geologists who would be surveying the concession area, to let him know if they found any underground water cisterns that could be useful to his people.Several years and $10 million later revealed nothing of commercial value. In 1938, the team in Arabia decided to deepen one of the ‘dry’ wells by another two hundred feet, and found oil. By 1940, about 20,000 barrels of oil per day were being produced and the company had begun building housing and offices in Dhahran on the west coast of Saudi Arabia.With the end of World War II, the demand for petrol remained as high as during the war. Not only was Western Europe rebuilding its devastated cities, but the American military presence around the world necessitated consistently available petroleum products. Aramco increased oil production to over 200,000 barrels per day in 1947.The economics of oil had to be managed. If oil prices spiralled upward quickly, it could damage the economies into which the oil needed to be sold. At the same time, the luxuries of modernity were needed and wanted by Saudi royalty for themselves, and for the country. The oil finds were superbly managed so they produced vast amounts of money for the company, and the Saudi treasury.Over time, the kingdom was able to leverage its assets to obtain the best from around the world, in a wide variety of domestic developments and enterprises. This wealth enabled Saudi Arabia to spend lavishly and quickly on its building programme - the development of modern cities, airports, hotels, universities and other amenities, that catapulted large parts of the country into modernity.What Saudi Arabia realized it did have, was an immense quantity of a very desirable resource: petroleum. What it lacked, was the many resources needed to get the most out of this oil wealth. Perhaps the most obvious lesson to any country was this realization: they needed to buy what they did not have from the outside, and then to make it their own. And this theme runs through their modern economic history.For the royal family, it meant sending princes abroad for education at the finest Western institutions like Princeton and Oxford. For Aramco, it initially meant encouraging Saudi workers to accept training as welders, carpenters, machine repairmen, and general workers. Later, it entailed sending promising young Saudis abroad to university to learn geology, petroleum engineering, logistics, and law.There was considerable pressure on the King to nationalize Saudi Arabia’s oil assets and Aramco. Mexico had nationalized their subsoil resources in 1917. Iran’s oil industry was nationalized in 1954, and Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal Company in 1956. Iraq, Iran and Libya, had nationalized the foreign oil company assets within their borders. All have fared poorly.But the Royal House of Saud blocked this nationalistic fervour, in favour of engaging their American partners for their business acumen and technical prowess. Eventually Aramco was purchased from the American company - purchased not taken - in what was described as an “amicable deal”, and the company was renamed Saudi Aramco. The board of directors named Ali al-Naimi as the company’s first Saudi CEO.al-Naimi is an example of the Aramco development process. Born into a desert Bedouin family, he benefited from an Aramco-sponsored university education. He returned to the company as an entry-level geologist, learned the oil business and corporate management, and rose to the very top.Managers at Aramco administered the company like an international, not local oil company, with the highest of international standards in every part of the business. This distinction has been the key to Aramco’s success.Aramco has been Saudi Arabia’s greatest source of revenue as well as innovation, and has taken its place among the great multinational energy companies of the world. It is a leader in exploration and production; the initial processing and movement of crude oil, natural and liquid gases. It operates refineries, petrochemical plants, as well as marketing outlets, and product distributors. I normally wouldn’t gravitate towards reading a book with this subject matter but I was intrigued given the recent buzz on the Saudi Aramco IPO. I was very pleasantly surprised to be completely absorbed. Ms. Wald’s history of Saudi Arabia and its energy strategy reads like a novel! You have to admire and root for a country with a long-term strategy for its economic future that is willing to sacrifice short-term profits to become even more prosperous in generations to come.

This was a easy-to-read, pretty good history of Aramco and Saudi and how the two have developed over the decades. There were times when the book was repetitive, there are some editing errors (and entire paragraph reprinted two pages later), and the author, at times, felt a bit of a pollyanna regarding the cutthroat treachery within the house of Al Saud and the country. Overall, it's worth the read.

Ellen has been working on this project for about a decade and it really shows. The book is really well done and comes at the perfect time with the Aramco IPO looming.

The author wrote the story in a very readable style and keeps you engaged all the time. However, I have noticed that the book requires further editing and few corrections as well as there are number of facts were missing from the stories covered in the book.

​First time writing a product review of any kind. However, this book was so immensely helpful that I thought I needed to share my thoughts. I took (and passed) the July 2016 NY bar exam and was also enrolled in a Barbri prep course. After struggling with Barbri's MBE questions, a friend recommended this book. I could not have been more impressed. The questions/explanations in the book were super helpful and detailed. The book does such a great job of explaining the law. It also does a great job in explaining why the right answer is correct and why the others are not. I did every single question in this book and read each explanation. My MBE score improved greatly. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to raise their MBE scores.

My Barbri prep class just wasn't sinking in as quickly and efficiently as I wanted. I decided to supplement with this book about a month or less out from the bar and boy am I glad I did. I knew the Barbri practice questions were tougher and more nuanced than the actual bar but I was getting poor scores and feeling down in the dumps. Using the practice questions in this book made me feel confident that I knew more than I thought and exposed me to actual bar questions. Doing 20 question sets after reviewing the subject assigned by Barbri that day really helped me prepare. I ended up passing the UBE for my state and feel like this book helped me get there!

You can't possibly pass the MBE without this book. It has all the NCBE released questions. There will be NO REASON to buy Adaptibar or any other bar study program that costs hundreds of dollars. These explanations are better than Barbri and any other bar prep tool I have ever used for the MBE. I used the law in a flash cards for extra subject help. I love Emanuel's!

I received this book two days ago and have probably spent about 6-7 hours total with it so far.It is good. It is helpful, and I would recommend it.But, I had to stop, mid-study, to write this review because there are numerous typographical errors. There are some that are normal, that you could easily glance over and it would make no big deal, but there are others that affect the outcome of an answer.Huge confidence blow, and not something you would expect from an $80 book designed to help you choose correct answers, no matter how long and dense it is.

I bought this book a few weeks before the July 2016 bar exam so I could do extra MBE questions without having to get on my computer for the prep course. The strategies and tactics section was helpful in attacking the question. The extra questions were good practice without having to devote an hour and a half every time I wanted to do a couple of questions. I went with 6th edition over 5th edition because of the 4 year gap between them.Will revisit in 3 months when I get the exam results.

I have been using this book to study for the upcoming July 2018 Bar and find the questions and answers very useful in preparing for the MBE. I prefer these questions over BARBRI questions, but do understand that Barbri helps with learning the black letter law whereas this book helps with applying the law. I would not recommend depending on this supplement alone. Do invest in the critical pass cards and a bar prep program to give yourself the best chance at passing the bar. The last thing I want to add, Steven L. Emanuel should update this book in a year or two with newer NCBE problems. I have heard the questions have changed from the ones in the book, but the questions are still great for practice purposes.

Super helpful! The author helps you recognize what kind of question the test is asking, eliminate "distractor" answers, and choose the right answer to the question. WHY DIDN'T THEY TEACH ME THIS IN LAW SCHOOL? I'm thinking of emailing my former professors and convincing them to teach MBE strategies using this as a textbook.

I bought this book and a study package from a very, very expensive bar prep company who advertises very heavily. I passed my state's bar exam on the first try.The questions in this book are pretty similar in structure and difficulty to the exam that I took, and I thought the strategies in the book were pretty useful. However, if you bought an extensive bar prep package, it might be overdoing it to also buy this book.
